Celebrating 1,000 Hits

Happy 1,000th!

I started this blog on April 7 of this year as a creative outlet and, more importantly, as a way for me to vent. Today the number of hits surpassed 1,000! That averages out to 8 hits per day, which may not sound like much to some of you heavy hitters of blogging but, frankly, I’m amazed. It’s kind of a rush, actually.

I have to mention a few who were responsible for the popularity…

My highest traffic day at 67 hits was on July 27, coincidentally the very same day that The Redneck Princess conferred upon me the honour of being the first named in her feature, Blog of the Week. Thanks for your comments and the cheque that paid for this plug of your blog.

I also get regular referrals from (in alphabetical order): Badlands Badley, Japecake, Ten Things about Me, and The Good Greatsby.

An honourable mention must go to the two bots that go crawling through my blog every single night. If not for your loyalty, which I greatly appreciate, I would have had to wait another six weeks for my purely human readership to have tallied a thousand visits to my blog. You bots are beginning to leave some pretty good comments that WordPress filters out as spam. In respectful thanks for helping getting me to where I am today, I OKed probably the best piece of spam you ever sent to this blog and even left a reply to it.

I offer my readers a new feature in profound yet humble thanks for your reading the bollocks I’ve written over the past few months. It is the exciting new Table of Contents you can find at the top of whatever page or post you happen to be on in my blog. With it you can see a brief synopsis of my blog entries before committing yourself to calling up the actual post. In some cases, the synopses are more interesting, more easily tolerated, and provide as much entertainment and/or useful information as the blog entry to which they refer.

Enjoy.

I’m guessing this is not 1001. Too bad. I’ve always wanted to be a palindrome.

Congratulations to you and your blog!

Congrats! A good way to get more people interested in your blog posts is to include “tags” You’ll find this on the right hand side of your main text panel with the heading Post Tags. As I post about writing a lot at the moment, I type in that box things like “writing” “short fiction” “writing tips” and so on. There are certain tags like “photography” that people look at a lot, so by including tags you’ll attract more visitors.

For some weird reason I am subscribed to your blog but I haven’t been getting any email updates. Need to check my subscription settings.

Thank you kindly for your comment and subscription… is it possible that I have inadvertently clicked a “snob button” and denied those interested of their updates?

It’s funny that you mentionned tags… usually I’ll begin tagging before I’ve finished writing a given entry but in the case of this celebratory rambling, I forgot completely. Thanks for reminding me!

Well done. Onward to infinity and beyond.

Thank you. You bring up good point… when you get really up there in popularity, is WordPress equipped to express the number of your hits in Aleph Numbers?

    Congrats! Here’s to 1000 more!

Well done. I too hope at some point to hit this milestone and I imagine a good number of those will originate from visitors to your site. Do you still have a link to those helpful bots? They sounded nice.

Surely you jest, my banana-eating friend. Your blog is great. Perhaps you don’t shamelessly load your posts with tags meant to attract the largest demographic, i.e. those looking for nudie photos and Wal-Mart coupons. I think the bots latched onto me when I went directly to a porn site from WordPress without clearing my cookies first.
