Promise... to be mine always.
See you next week!
Is this HDR. Wonderful effect.
Yes, it was done from nine one-stop exposures and I very quickly created the HDR and tonemapped it at a low resolution in LuminanceHDR in about 5 minutes. It was a sample for what I could do with images for a client who had me taking some very straight photography. They didn’t want this one so I adjusted the tones a bit and resized it to fit my WP theme dimensions. Thanks for the compliment and for stopping by!
I have no idea what you just said, but I’m certain you know what you’re talking about.
He-he-he… I think the old adage “If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit” might apply here!
Thanks very much… for the compliment and for dropping by!
I’m glad you explained how it was done. looks amazing. Awesome work.
You’re welcome for the explanation! The way I see it, I can stand in one spot and just by turning around and pointing my camera up and down I could spend all day taking hundreds of pictures. I’m no great innovator so nothing I do is truly original, except in the context of what scene I happen upon while carrying a camera. If someone finds something interesting about the look of one of my photos and it really catches on as the next wave of photography, let them call the process HoaiPhaism. In the meantime, if there’s ever something about one of my pictures you want to know how to do yourself, just ask and I’ll explain without holding back, just as you have done with your light painting shots and that moody boat picture. Deal?
Great photo and I also want to thank you for your explanation into how it was done.
Thanks for the cudos. Some think that HDRIs are cheating, but they bring out what cannot be seen through “straight shooting”. Also, for a well-crafted HDRI, it takes a whole lot of work, sometimes hours, to get it just right.
Glad you liked it! I just realized I missed the boat on this week’s Challenge… the actual topic was supposed to be “Possibility”!
It’s almost metallic looking, like liquid mercury- excellent!
Thank you! It’s strange but this image was done at low dimensions just to see what would happen. I liked what I saw and quickly tried to do it at full resolution but things didn’t work out as nicely as this on. I really should go back and give it another try.
loved that image looks very warm and inviting you have done a lovely pic xxjen
Thanks for the compliment and I’m glad you got what I was trying to do!
Great image, but I hope those candles are not left untended! 😉
Oh, no. There were three of us there and when I got done shooting, I personally blew out the candles. I like a good fire but arson is just not my thing!
Wunderbar! Great picture!!!
Thanks a bunch! You can use it to drop a hint to The Dude from Derbyshire, if you like!
I didn’t understand the technical bits – I just know I want this porch shipped intact to my house for my immediate enjoyment. Take care of that, will you?
I’d be happy to oblige but the porch isn’t mine… it belongs to a hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Would you like me to book a reservation?
Well done !
Thank you kindly, Sir! I’ve not had much time these past weeks to read others’ blogs or to write my own but this one started out as a quickie that I got carried away with.
I hope everyone gets the deep menaing of a seemingly simple photograph. Well done!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it and got it. You might be interested to know that I took this one at and for a NOTL hotel, and they didn’t want it.
